Trim Levels
The 2023 Jetta has a modern, refined style with angular LED headlights, an angular upper grille, and a curved lower grille that gets wider near the edges for a unique look. The upper grille has the VW symbol in the center, and a chrome bar connects the headlights. You can choose S, Sport, SE, or SEL trim levels. The base S trim comes with a sculpted hood and sides, heated, manually folding power side mirrors, 16-inch alloy wheels, puddle lights, all-season tires, and 5.5 inches of ground clearance. A cargo box, a bike holder, and front and rear splash guards are optional.
You'll get 17-inch alloy wheels with the Sport and SEL. The Sport has a light bar in the front grille and black accents. With the SE, 17-inch wheels and a power panoramic sunroof are optional, and rain-sensing windshield wipers are standard. The SEL includes a sunroof and memory settings for the side mirrors.
Engine
This car comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder 1.5-liter motor that provides 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. An engine start-and-stop system saves fuel when you pause in traffic by stopping the motor temporarily and restarting it automatically when you use the accelerator. The radio and other accessories keep working. With the S and Sport trim levels, you'll get a six-speed manual transmission. You can choose a Tiptronic eight-speed automatic transmission, which comes standard with the other trims. Both transmissions use front-wheel drive.
Performance
The Jetta has an independent suspension for a smooth ride, speed-sensitive power steering for excellent maneuverability, and electronic stability control. The Sport has an XDS cross differential system to improve traction. It compares wheel speed while turning and applies the brakes to any wheels spinning too fast. The SEL comes with sport, normal, custom, and eco driving modes. You can go 29 mpg in urban areas and 42 mpg on the highway with the manual transmission, and the automatic transmission gets 31 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on larger roads.
Interior
The 2023 VW Jetta includes many convenient features for a comfortable ride. With the S, you'll get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, an 8-inch digital instrument display, and controls on the steering wheel. Voice recognition, folding rear seats, a Wi-Fi hotspot, an interior air filter with activated carbon, and cruise control are standard as well. You can add navigation, wireless charging, remote start, and SiriusXM satellite radio.
The SE has an eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar settings, heated front seats, two-zone climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. With the SEL, you'll also get ambient lighting, leather seats, a heated steering wheel, and cooled front seats.
Safety Features
The Jetta comes with a variety of advanced safety features, including six airbags, a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, braking assistance, and an anti-theft system with an engine immobilizer. Blind spot monitoring and pedestrian detection are also standard.
