The battery in your VW has a limited lifespan. Exactly how limited will depend on several factors, but broadly speaking, 3 to 5 years is the norm. Luckily, in most cases, batteries don’t just suddenly give out. They wear out gradually, giving you a little time to plan for a replacement. Here are the five most common warning signs that it may be time to head to your VW dealer to pick up a new car battery.

How do you know if it’s time for your VW dealer to give your car a brake repair?

Alternators have been an essential part of automobiles for many years. Their function is to produce electricity for all your car’s systems. An alternator is designed to run continuously from the moment your engine starts till you turn off the engine. As an alternator ages, it will become less efficient at producing electricity and this can lead to problems. These are a few signs that you may need to visit your VW dealer for an alternator repair.

Your Volkswagen is a finely-tuned, perfectly designed-vehicle. To keep it performing at its best, your VW needs regular servicing and maintenance. Components will inevitably wear out due to age or damage and will need replacement. Your Volkswagen dealership in Doral, FL, provides all the services needed to keep your VW in great shape. These are a few of the services we have available.

Transmission Services
The transmission is a very complex piece of engineering. It’s responsible for translating the power from your engine into a usable form to move your car’s wheels. The transmission uses gears of diminishing sizes to refine the power so your car’s wheels always move at the desired speed. Over time, the constant heat and movement of transmission components will result in wear and tear.
During a transmission service, our technicians examine all transmission components for signs of wear or damage. We check the quality of the transmission fluid and replace it. New transmission fluid provides better protection for transmission components and allows them to operate more efficiently than old fluid. We also replace the transmission filter to prevent blockages that could cause the transmission to overheat.
Fluid Checks
Your VW contains a wide range of fluids, and each fluid serves an important role in your car’s health. Oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and brake fluid are some of your car’s main fluids. Oil lubricates the engine parts, cools them, and allows them to move faster and without damage. The coolant absorbs heat generated by your engine and transports it to the radiator for removal.
Transmission fluid protects transmission components against damage and provides hydraulic power to move the gears. Brake fluid provides the hydraulic power that allows the brakes to stop your car. Our technicians can test all of these fluids and replace any that need replacement. We can also top up any fluids that are low and check for leaks.
Battery Check
Every driver can understand the stress of a car that won’t start. One of the most common causes of starting problems is a weak or dead battery. A car battery has a useful life of approximately three to five years. The battery’s life can also be reduced by a worn alternator, electrical faults, or extreme temperatures.
A battery will almost always show signs that it is failing. Some of these signs include dim lights, starting problems, and slow accessories. We can test your battery to give you an accurate assessment of its health and capabilities. Our technicians can connect your battery to our computerized battery tester. The tester will give you accurate information on your battery’s condition. If your battery is failing, we can install a new one for you.

Prepare Your Car for Fall With Esserman!
You’ll probably be driving your car more this fall than you did during the summer. Most schools and businesses are starting to reopen in spite of the pandemic. That means you might be driving your car more this fall than you did during the summer. Make sure your vehicle is ready with the following car care tips.
Check your fluids! Checking your vehicle’s fluids is one of the most critical car care routines. The various fluids lubricate, cool, and perform other vital functions that help keep your car running and driving. Take a few minutes to check the underhood fluids, including the engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid. You’ll also want to check the automatic transmission fluid (if your car has a dipstick) and the power steering fluid (if your car has hydraulic power steering).
Inspect your tires! Tires are super important because they affect the braking ability, handling performance, and overall safety of your vehicle. Take a few moments to inspect your car’s tires to ensure they’re in good condition. First, you’ll want to check tread depth either by visual inspection or by using a dedicated gauge. You should also check the tire pressure with a dedicated gauge. If the pressure is too low, use an air compressor (or an air pump at the gas station) to add air.
Make sure that all of your lights work! Sadly, the long summer days have come to an end. Because nighttime comes earlier during the fall, you’re more likely to be driving when it’s dark out. Get a friend to help you make sure all of your car’s exterior lights (including the brake lights and reverse lights) are working correctly. A non-functional light usually indicates a burnt-out bulb. Get any burnt-out bulbs replaced as soon as possible.
Check your wiper blades! After the hot summer, your wiper blades can be dried and cracked. To check the wiper blades, turn on both the wipers and windshield washers. A good set of blades should produce a streak-free sweep and leave the windshield clear. Replace the wiper blades if they do not perform well.
Check your heater! If you’re like most drivers, you didn’t turn your car’s heater on at all during the summer. But soon, the weather will get cold and you’ll be pining for a warm cabin once again. It’s a good idea to test your vehicle’s heater before the temperatures start to drop
These are just a few of the things you should check as we head into fall! Check these things yourself or bring your car into Esserman Volkswagen and we will take care of it for you!
